About Us
Culture, decoded — one story at a time.
Funblers is an entertainment, culture and lifestyle blog for people who love pop culture but want a little more than a headline. We cover the films, music, shows and trends everyone is talking about — and then we ask the question that matters most: why does this resonate right now?
From a returning fan-favourite series to a record-breaking single, from a buzzy biopic to the wellness habit quietly reshaping how a whole generation eats and trains, we treat entertainment not as background noise but as a mirror. What we watch, stream, listen to and buy says something about who we are — and Funblers exists to make those connections fun to read and easy to understand.
Our story
Funblers began with a simple frustration shared over far too much coffee: the internet was overflowing with entertainment “content,” yet so little of it actually explained anything. There were recaps that spoiled without illuminating, hot takes with no heat and no light, and endless listicles that forgot the reader somewhere around item four.
We wanted something different — a place that took pop culture seriously enough to think about it, but never so seriously that it stopped being enjoyable. So we built one. Working from Scarborough, Ontario, in the heart of one of the most culturally diverse regions in the world, we started writing the kind of stories we wished someone else had written first: clear, curious, well-reported, and genuinely fun. That combination is where our name comes from — a blend of fun and the endless rambles, ramblers and wanderers who follow a good story wherever it leads.
Our mission
Our mission is to make culture make sense. We believe you shouldn’t have to choose between being entertained and being informed. Every piece we publish is built to do both — to give you the news quickly, the context clearly, and the “so what” that turns a passing story into something worth talking about at dinner.
We write for the curious: the person who finishes a series and immediately wants to know what it means, who hears a song top the charts and wonders how it got there, who notices a trend taking over their feed and asks where it actually came from. If that sounds like you, you’re already one of us.
What we cover
Funblers is organised around the corners of culture we care about most. Our coverage moves fast when the news breaks, and goes deep when a story deserves it.
Film
New releases, casting news, festival buzz and the occasional big swing that reminds us why we fell in love with movies in the first place. We’re as interested in the ambitious original as we are in the blockbuster, and we’re always happy to explain what a project is really about.
Music
Album drops, chart milestones, festival sets and the artists rewriting the rules of pop. From record-breaking singles to career-defining reinventions, we follow the sound of the moment and the stories behind it.
Television & streaming
Premieres, returns, renewals and the shows that dominate the group chat. With more platforms and more series than anyone can keep up with, we help you decide what’s actually worth your time — and why a beloved comeback or a bold new series matters.
Lifestyle & wellness
The habits, health shifts and everyday trends changing how we live in 2026 — from the way new medications are reshaping nutrition and fitness, to the quiet rise of low-tech, screen-light living. We approach wellness with curiosity and balance, never hype, and we always encourage readers to talk to qualified professionals about personal health decisions.
Entertainment news
The events, announcements and cultural flashpoints that everyone’s reacting to — reported quickly and framed thoughtfully, so you get the full picture rather than just the noise.
How we work
Accuracy first. Entertainment coverage has a reputation for playing loose with the facts. We don’t. We check claims against credible reporting and primary sources before we publish, we’re careful to separate confirmed news from rumour, and when a detail isn’t nailed down, we say so plainly.
The “why it matters” lens. Anyone can tell you what happened. We’re more interested in what it reveals — how a single film, album or trend fits into the bigger cultural picture. That perspective is the heart of everything we write.
Respect for your time and your intelligence. No clickbait, no padding, no ten-page detours to reach one small point. We write to be read — warmly, clearly, and with the assumption that you’re smart and just want the good stuff.
Meet the team
Funblers is a small, tight-knit team that punches well above its weight. We’re united by a shared conviction that culture is worth thinking about — and worth enjoying.
Oliver Smith
Oliver is the idea engine behind Funblers — the one most likely to walk in with a theory about why a random show became a phenomenon and a plan to write about it by lunch. He shapes the site’s editorial voice and its guiding belief that entertainment is one of the best lenses we have for understanding the world. When he’s not editing, he’s usually deep in a watchlist he’ll never finish.
Max Turner
Max keeps Funblers honest and running. With a stickler’s love of getting the details right, he leads on standards and fact-checking, making sure that “fun” never comes at the expense of “true.” He’s the reader’s advocate in every editorial conversation, forever asking whether a story is clear, fair and actually worth publishing. His answer, thankfully, is often yes.
Amy Adams
Amy is the voice behind many of the stories you’ll read here, with a particular gift for music and lifestyle coverage. She has a talent for turning a chart statistic or a wellness trend into a story you actually want to finish, blending sharp reporting with a warmth that makes even the busiest news week feel like a conversation with a friend who knows everything.
What we promise our readers
- To be clear. If we can’t explain it simply, we haven’t understood it well enough yet.
- To be fair. We cover culture we love and culture we’re skeptical of with the same honesty, and we’re happy to present more than one point of view.
- To be worth your click. Every story should leave you knowing something, feeling something, or wanting to share it. Ideally all three.
